Getting advice on debt and money

The North Lanarkshire Bureaux are piloting an enhanced debt advice service, in collaboration with North Lanarkshire Council, to make it easier to access free, confidential debt advice online, by phone or in person.

If you need some guidance on managing your money, we can use our knowledge and experience to find you the support you need.

Here are some examples of the areas we cover:

  • Managing credit cards or mortgages
  • Getting out of debt
  • Dealing with bankruptcy
  • What to do if you’re about to lose your home or can’t pay your rent
  • How to set a budget - and stick to it
  • Understanding your pension
  • Guidance on tax

Call the North Lanarkshire Bureaux Debt Advice Helpline free on 0800 328 1131 from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Our helpline adviser can help with basic money and debt related queries, and put you in touch with a specialist debt adviser for more complex queries.  

Call the North Lanarkshire Council Your Money Information Line on 01698 403170, 8.45 am to 4.45 pm, Monday to Thursday, 8.45 am to 4.15 pm on Friday, to arrange a free, confidential appointment with a council debt advisor.

In person

Specialist debt advisers are available in bureaux in Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Motherwell and Wishaw. Appointments can be arranged via the helpline 0800 328 1131 or by calling into the bureau.
